Go to the shopI’m a dad first. A coffee guy second. And if I’m being real, both roles saved me.
When my son was born, I dreamed all the usual dreams every parent does. First words, first bike ride, first time hearing him yell “Dad!” across a park. I pictured the soundtrack of parenthood. But a few years in, doctors told us what I never thought I’d hear—that my boy might never speak.
That news hit me like a freight train. Silence is heavy. It’s not just the absence of words—it’s the absence of the connection you thought was guaranteed. And when you’re a parent, that silence can feel like it’s swallowing you whole.
But here’s the twist life threw at me: my son is amazing. He’s autistic, yes, but that’s not his definition—it’s his color, his fire, his way of seeing the world differently. It was me who had to change. Me who had to stop mourning what I thought I lost, and start celebrating what I actually had.
Now, years later, I get to hear his voice. He talks, he reads, he writes, he’s in school. Every word feels like a gift I almost never got to unwrap. Some days it’s pure miracle, other days it’s hard as hell—but every day, it’s ours.
So what’s coffee got to do with this? Everything.
I’ve always loved coffee. Philly mornings, grind in the air, that first sip before the city fully wakes up. It was my ritual. But now, coffee is more than a drink—it’s armor. It’s medicine. It’s the blanket that wraps me up when the sun’s barely over the skyline, reminding me I’ve got what it takes to face whatever’s coming. It steadies me for the challenges, and it lets me savor the wins—both big and small—that my son brings into my world.
That’s why I built Coffeedelphia. It’s not just a business. It’s not just beans and brews. It’s my way of sharing a piece of that ritual, that grit, that grounding force that helps me keep moving. For some, coffee is caffeine. For me, it’s resilience in a cup.
I’m not a barista or a coffee sommelier. I’m just a dad who loves his son, loves his city, and loves the drink that gives me the strength to do right by both. Every bag of Coffeedelphia beans carries a little bit of that story—Philly toughness, parental love, and the belief that even in the face of uncertainty, you rise, you grind, you pour, you keep going.
If you’re here, reading this, then you get it. Coffee isn’t just fuel. It’s connection. It’s culture. It’s community. For me, it’s also purpose—because part of what drives Coffeedelphia is giving back to the autism community that has given me hope, lessons, and a deeper understanding of love than I ever thought possible.
So thank you for being here. Thank you for sharing a cup with me. And thank you for helping me build something bigger than coffee. Something rooted in grit, brewed with love, and served with purpose.
From my table to yours—cheers, and sip on that.
—Everett, Founder of Coffeedelphia
Coffeedelphia is Philly in a cup. Our city’s coffee story started in 1754 at the London Coffee House, where merchants struck deals, revolutionaries traded ideas, and the smell of fresh brew mixed with the energy of change. We’re here to carry that spirit forward—bold, purposeful, and rooted in community.
Our beans may grow on faraway hillsides, but once they hit Philly soil, they’re family. We treat them with the same care and respect we give to anything that earns the right to call this city home.
We’re not coffee snobs with shiny certificates—we’re just people who love a great cup. And we’re also parents in the autistic community. That means we live the realities—both the challenges and the joys—of seeing the world differently through our children.
We know the beauty of intense focus, creativity, and honesty that comes with being neurodivergent, but we also know the battles: the moments of feeling unseen, the barriers to opportunity, and the constant push to be understood.
That’s why Coffeedelphia exists for more than flavor. Every bag we sell gives $1 to autism-related causes right here in Philadelphia. And our long-term goal? To build a Philadelphia roastery that employs members of the autistic community from top to bottom--creating real jobs, real pride, and real impact.
Every sip connects you to Philly’s spirit: tough, passionate, and determined to make a difference. This is where street grit meets artisan craft, where coffee fuels purpose, and where anything that makes Philly home becomes family.
Sip on that.
